Part 4: Caregiver Support
The Alzheimer’s Association reports that in 2022, unpaid caregivers provided an estimated 18 billion hours of care. In addition to providing unpaid care, many caregivers face emotional and physical strain, like depression and anxiety, more significantly than the general population while often putting their personal lives on hold.
Caregivers play a vital role in the lives of those with dementia, but they also need support. Synapticure offers respite care, allowing caregivers to take a break and recharge. We also provide educational resources and training to help caregivers feel more confident in their roles.
Our team helps coordinate local services, making it easier for caregivers to manage daily tasks and plan for the future. This comprehensive support ensures that caregivers have the tools and resources they need to care for their loved ones effectively.
Respite Care
Caregiving for a loved one with dementia can be exhausting. Through the GUIDE program, CMS covers up to 80 hours per year of respite care, giving primary caregivers a much-needed break. Respite care provides short-term relief for primary caregivers, giving them time to rest and recharge. This service allows a trained professional to care for your loved one at home or in a facility for a few hours or several days a week, ensuring continuous support.
Synapticure works with local organizations to arrange short-term care for your loved one, whether at home or in a care facility. This temporary relief allows caregivers to rest and recharge, knowing that their loved one is in safe hands. Respite care isn’t just about taking a break; it’s about ensuring that caregivers are physically and emotionally equipped to continue providing care.
Education and Training
Supporting someone with dementia requires knowledge and skills that not everyone has. That’s why we offer educational resources and training for caregivers. These programs cover everything from understanding the progression of dementia to managing difficult behaviors and providing effective care. By empowering caregivers with the tools and knowledge they need, we help them feel more confident and capable in their roles.
Local Resource Coordination
Navigating local resources can be challenging, especially when you’re already managing so much. Our care navigators assist caregivers in locating and accessing local services, such as meal delivery, transportation, and home safety modifications. We work closely with community partners to ensure that you have the support you need, reducing the burden on caregivers to figure it all out on their own. This coordination helps families adjust to the realities of living with dementia, allowing them to focus on what truly matters—spending quality time with their loved one.
Why caregivers love Synapticure
“My mother’s Synapticure team is fantastic. They make us feel like she is their most important patient. They are experts in their field and provide excellent care, but they also are kind and attentive and efficient. Also, being remote allows us, her daughters, to easily participate even though we live in different states, plus it allows my mom to have her appointments without ever leaving the house. Given that she has a movement disorder and we are so far away, this allows her to continue to age in place as long as possible without sacrificing quality care. Synapticure has been a blessing to our family.” - Synapticure Caregiver
For individuals who qualify for GUIDE, these services are offered at no extra cost. For individuals who are not eligible, Synapticure is still able to provide ongoing care for those living with Dementia and their caregivers. We are happy to discuss your care options.
